Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars with Flakey Sea Salt

Chocolate chips and flakey sea salt creates the ultimate cookie bar. All the flavors of a cookie, but in a bar form. 

Ingredients

Chocolate Chips - I love milk chocolate for extra sweetness

Butter - unsalted is best since we are adding extra flakey salt to the top.

Egg - acts as a binder for the dough.

Vanilla Extract - really ups the flavor by using vanilla bean paste.

Sugar - both brown sugar for a warm caramely flavor and granulated for a little exterior crunch.

Flour - all purpose flour is best

Baking Powder and Baking Soda - I like the combination of baking powder and soda for my cookies

Salt - both regular salt in the cookie dough and flaky salt for topping

How to make the best chocolate chip cookie bar

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a bowl add butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Mix to combine.
  • Add in egg and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Mix until til just combined. Then fold in chocolate chips.
  • Press dough into a parchment lined 8"x8" pan. Bake for 23-28 minutes. 
  • Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if using. Then allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from the pan.
