This Croissant Burger features juicy seasoned beef, melty cheese, and grilled onions on buttery croissants. An easy, gourmet burger recipe perfect for griddle cooking or weeknight dinners.

This Croissant Burger takes your classic burger to the next level with buttery, flaky croissants, juicy seasoned beef, melty cheese, and perfectly grilled onions. It’s rich, indulgent, and packed with flavor in every bite.

Cooking everything on the griddle gives you that perfect sear on the burger while crisping the croissants with melted cheese for an unbeatable texture. This is the ultimate upgrade to your typical burger night and a guaranteed crowd favorite.

Why You’ll Love This Croissant Burger

  • Buttery croissants add a rich, flaky twist
  • Juicy, perfectly seasoned beef patties
  • Melty cheese both inside and on the bun
  • Easy to make on a griddle or stovetop
  • Perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining

Ingredient Breakdown

  • Ground Beef – The base of the burger, providing rich, savory flavor. An 80/20 blend works best for juicy results, but leaner beef or even ground turkey can be used.
  • Seasonings – A simple mix of salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and pepper enhances the natural flavor of the beef without overpowering it.
  • Croissants – Soft, buttery, and flaky, croissants replace traditional buns for a more indulgent and elevated burger experience. Brioche buns are a great substitute if needed.
  • Cheese – Using both sliced and shredded cheese creates layers of melty goodness. Pepper jack adds a little heat, but cheddar, Swiss, or American cheese all work well.
  • Onion – Grilled until slightly caramelized, onions add sweetness and depth to balance the richness of the burger.
  • Burger Sauce – A creamy fry sauce or your favorite burger sauce ties everything together. You can also use mayo, ketchup, or aioli depending on your preference.

How to Make Croissant Burgers

Step 1: Prep the Ingredients

Preheat your griddle to medium heat.

In a small bowl, mix together salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and pepper.

Shape ground beef into oval patties sized to fit your croissants.

Step 2: Cook the Onions

Add a little oil to the griddle and cook diced onions until softened and slightly caramelized. Remove and set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Burger Patties

Place patties on the griddle and gently press them down slightly.

Season with half of the seasoning blend and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Flip, season the other side, and top with sliced cheese. Cook an additional 3 to 4 minutes until fully cooked.

Step 4: Toast the Croissants

Slice croissants in half and sprinkle shredded cheese on the cut side.

Place cheese-side down on the griddle and cook until the cheese is melted and slightly crispy.

Step 5: Assemble the Burgers

Place the burger patty on the bottom half of the croissant.

Top with sauce and grilled onions, then finish with the top croissant.

Optional: brush with melted garlic butter for an extra layer of flavor.

Tips for the Best Croissant Burger

  • Use fresh croissants for the best texture
  • Don’t over-press the patties to keep them juicy
  • Toast the croissants just until crispy to avoid burning
  • Let the burgers rest briefly before assembling

Easy Variations

  • Add crispy bacon for extra flavor
  • Swap pepper jack for cheddar or Swiss
  • Add lettuce and tomato for freshness
  • Use a spicy aioli for a kick
  • Try ground chicken or turkey as an alternative

What to Serve with Croissant Burgers

These burgers pair perfectly with:

  • French fries or sweet potato fries
  • Pasta salad or potato salad
  • Coleslaw
  • Grilled vegetables

Final Thoughts

This Croissant Burger is rich, flavorful, and a fun twist on a classic burger. The combination of buttery croissants, juicy beef, melty cheese, and caramelized onions makes every bite unforgettable.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 4 croissants
  • 1 cup shredded cheese I used pepperjack
  • 4 slices cheese I used pepperjack
  • 1 onion diced
  • fry sauce or favorite burger sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat your griddle to medium heat. I'm using my 36" griddle, if you are using something smaller you may have to do this in different batches.
  • In a small bowl combine salt, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper. Mix to combine and set aside.
  • Shape your ground beef into 4 oval patties, about the same shape and size of your croissants.
  • Add a little oil to a portion of your griddle and add the onions. Cook until they have started to get a little bit of color to them, then remove from the griddle.
  • While the onions are cooking, add your burger patties to the middle section of your griddle. I like to slightly press them down with a burger press, but not completely smash them. Season the patties with half of the seasoning then allow to cook for 3-4 minutes before flipping. Season with remaining seasoning, top with the sliced cheese and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  • While the burgers are cooking, cut the croissants in half and cover in shredded cheese before placing cheese side down onto the griddle. Cook for about 2 minutes until the cheese gets melty and slightly crispy before removing from the griddle.
  • Assemble your burger by adding the burger patty to the bottom croissant bun, then sauce, grilled onions, and top croissant. Finish of with melted garlic butter if desired.

This one is for those who don’t really like cake.

Homemade fresh mint chip ice cream, a fudgy cookie layer, and cookies & cream ice cream all stacked into one very perfect ice cream cake.

One of my favorite things about making desserts from scratch is getting to create flavor combinations you can’t always find at the store.

And honestly, that’s the fun of homemade, making exactly what you wish existed.

One of my favorite things about making things homemade is getting to create something you wish existed in the world.

I wanted the nostalgic crunch of those strawberry cheesecake ice cream bars… but with raspberry and an actual cheesecake twist. So naturally I had to make it happen.

And honestly? This might be one of those recipes that makes you stop after the first bite and think, where has this been my whole life?

Sweet, creamy, crunchy, raspberry perfection.

Would you try raspberry over strawberry? 👇

Episode 9 of the garden series and the garden is finally starting to fill in 🌱✨

This week I planted:🌶️ Peppers with onions, cilantro and marigolds🫘 Beans alongside potatoes and marigolds🥒 Cucumbers with dill, carrots, and radishes🌸 PLUS all the flowers — zinnias, dahlias, snapdragons, strawflower, celosia, and feverfew

I love companion planting because every plant has a purpose. Some help attract pollinators, some deter pests, and some simply help maximize space in the garden beds. And honestly… mixing veggies and flowers together just makes the garden feel magical. 🌼🐝

The vision is finally starting to come together and I cannot wait to see everything explode with growth over the next few weeks.

Which plant are you most excited to watch grow this season? 👇
