This pasta is very reminiscent of the famous cheesesteak sandwiches, but in a super easy 20 minute meal version.
My family tends to love everything cheesesteak. Cheesesteak stuffed bread (recipe coming soon), Cheesesteak Kebabs, Cheesesteak Burgers, Cheesesteak Casserole, you get the idea. While I made this with ground beef to keep it more affordable, but you could easily swap the ground beef for thinly sliced steak if that’s your vibe. This would also be delicious with chicken instead of beef.
I also recently got roasted on TikTok for calling something with peppers and onions a Philly cheesesteak. So, if you want to be truly authentic, know that peppers and onions are not authentic Philly cheesesteak.
Philly Cheesesteak Pasta Ingredients
- Ground Beef: you can swap this for thinly sliced steak or chicken
- Bell Pepper: I like to dice them, but you could cut them to strips. Not authentic to Philly but we like it.
- Onion: again not authentic to Philly but I like the taste
- Garlic: can swap for garlic powder also
- Olive Oil: used to sauté the pepper, onion, and garlic
- Worcestershire Sauce: the flavor is perfect addition
- Cream Cheese: gives a nice creamy easy sauce
- Milk: thinned out the cream cheese. I used regular milk, but any will work.
- Pasta: any shape is fine! I like to use small shells, but I typically let the kid’s pick which pasta because they are more likely to eat dinner without a fight.
- Cheese: I like to use mozzarella or provolone
