Is the Nespresso Vertuo worth the splurge? Is it the best at home espresso maker? Let’s find out!
I have been on the hunt for a Nespresso Vertuo review that I felt like I could trust. All the top blog posts I found seem to have been sponsored by Nespresso, I mean hey Nespresso if you want to sponsor me I would gladly take you up on it! However, I was very hesitant to make the investment into the Nespresso Vertuo because I was afraid it would just turn out to be a glorified Keurig.
My son, Brody, has been obsessed with helping me make my coffee in the mornings. If you haven’t seen my video of him helping me check it out here, I truly don’t think there is anything sweeter. As soon as he wakes up in the morning he asks “Are you ready for your coffee mom?”. In fact, I tried making my coffee one morning before he woke up and there was a complete melt down that morning because he didn’t get to make mommy’s coffee.
I’ve tried so many different coffee trends, like the Cloud Coffee, trying to get the coffee shop taste and feel at home.
I have been lusting over the Nespresso Vertuo for MONTHS now! There were so many times I was tempted to purchase it for myself, but I just wasn’t sure that I would love it as much as everyone said they did. Plus the price was a little more than I was sure I wanted to spend. We have had everything from a simple $20 drip coffee machine (which is what Clayton still uses), to a Keurig, and a Ninja Coffee Bar. While they all made a fine cup of coffee, nothing beat a cup of coffee from my local coffee shop.
Now the issue is that I live 30 minutes from a coffee shop and teach 30 minutes in the opposite direction, so grabbing a coffee shop worthy drink would add 1.5 hours to my morning every day! So getting a good cup of coffee each morning wasn’t much of a possibility, nor would my bank account like it very much.
My biggest hesitation at first was not knowing the coffee options with the Veurto. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to find a pod that I liked, plus let’s be honest they are kind of pricey (about $1 each). However, when I first looked at the Nespresso site to choose pods to try I was honestly a little bit overwhelmed. There were so many different options! As far as the price per pod it may be 2-3x the price of a k-cup, but it is also 3-4x cheaper than a cup of coffee at the coffeeshop. When we had a Keurig we would use the refillable k-cup most mornings, so I am planning to do some research and see if the Nespresso has something like this to try out as well. So far, my favorite pods have been: Melozio, Hazelino Muffin, and Vanilla Custard Pie.
One think I liked about the Vertuo vs the original Nespresso was the ability brew 6 different size cups of coffee. There is a 1.35 oz espresso, 2.7 oz double espresso, a 5 oz Gran Lungo, an 8 oz coffee, a 14 oz Alto, and an 18 oz pour-over carafe. Each capsule is labeled to help you know what size coffee mug you need!
My first thoughts when I made my first cup of coffee was that it was louder than I was expecting, but honestly probably isn’t much louder than a Keurig and definitely not as loud as an actual espresso machine. The taste of the coffee was amazing!
I opted for the option to include the aeroccino3 frother with my purchase, but you can also get it for less without the frother and then purchase a frother elsewhere. However, I LOVE the frother. I have only ever had a small hand held frother in the past, so having this one makes the coffee process so much faster and easier in the morning. It heats and froths all in one step AND can also do cold foam!
Overall I am loving my Nespresso and would 100% recommend it to anyone who wants a really good cup of coffee or someone who likes “fancy” coffee as well. I have been using my Nespresso for a little over a month now, and don’t think I can go back to regular drip coffee (actually I know I can’t, haha). All in all, do you need the Nespresso Vertuo? If you want coffee shop quality coffee at home, then YES! I’d love to know in the comments if this Nespresso Vertuo review was helpful AND what coffee maker you use at home, and if you are in love with it, because I truly think this is the best at home coffee maker.
