Homemade Graham Crackers

Homemade graham crackers are the perfect after school snack. Made with six simple ingredients these crackers are so much better than the store bought ones.

One of my children’s favorite snacks are graham crackers. They love them dipped in milk or with a smear of peanut butter. Plus, they are on the healthier side of the snack spectrum. You also can’t forget about the OG graham cracker companion marshmallows and chocolate for s’mores.

Along with snacks, you can use these graham crackers for a graham cracker crust in your desserts.

I hadn’t ever thought about making graham crackers before, but my son was begging for some graham crackers for a snack and we didn’t have any. Since we live 30 minutes from the grocery store, I wasn’t going to run to the store to grabs some.

I also love that making them homemade you can also control the texture of the crackers. I love to slightly under bake the crackers for a chewier texture, vs the normal crunchy cracker.

Ingredients

  • Butter – unsalted is best, but I do love using salted also.
  • Brown Sugar – adds a caramel flavor.
  • Flour – You will want to use whole wheat flour to get the right flavor.
  • Baking Powder – to puff the crackers just a bit.
  • Eggs – for the perfect texture
  • Vanilla Extract – for a light vanilla flavor

How to Make Homemade Graham Crackers

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a bowl combine sugar and butter. Cream together until light and fluffy.
  • Add in eggs and vanilla extract. Mix to combine.
  • Add in flour and baking powder. Mix to combine.
  • Split dough in half and roll into a rectangle. Roll the dough as thick as you want your crackers to be. They will not puff up much. I used a 3/16″ roller for my thickness.
  • Cut out 3″ squares and place onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Gently score the dough into rectangles and prick the dough with a fork.
  • Bake 13-16 minutes.
  • Let cool and enjoy!

Help me plan my 2026 garden renovation!

I already have my new greenhouse! I got the @yardistry.structures from @costco.

My husband will be tearing down told play structure and I’ll have so much space to work with.

I just need help determining which direction to place the greenhouse and beds.

Also, is there anything I NEED to make sure to include when planning?

These French Onion Scones are flaky, savory, and packed with caramelized onions, Gruyère cheese, and fresh thyme.

Ingredients
For the Scones:
2½ cups all purpose flour
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp baking powder
12 tbsp cold butter grated
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup gruyere cheese shredded
1 tsp thyme
1/4 cup heavy cream
flakey salt

French Onions
2 onions
2 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp thyme
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Instructions
French Onions
Add butter to skillet. Once hot and melted, add the onions, salt and pepper, and allow them to cook down and deeply caramelize for about 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onions become very dark, soft and jammy.
Add in the garlic, Worcestershire, and balsamic vinegar, and allow it to bubble up and reduce for about 30 seconds. Allow mixture to simmer until reduced.
Set aside to cool.
Scones
Preheat oven to 350℉. In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
With a cheese grater, grate your cold butter and mix into dry ingredients with your hands until it reaches a crumbly texture.
Create a well in the center of your bowl and add egg and buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
Fold in shredded cheese and french onions; you want the dough to be just sticky enough to stick to your hands.
Pour mixture onto a floured surface and shape into a circle. Cut into 6-8 scones, the same way you would a pizza. Then place onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
Brush with heavy cream, sprinkle with flakey salt and bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden on edges.
