In honor of World Breastfeeding Week I wanted to share some of my favorite breastfeeding must haves from my last year of breastfeeding. There, of course, are the obvious items that most moms grab, but I wanted to share some of the items that I grabbed after the fact that I didn’t know about prior.
Nature Bond Haakaa – I gathered so much breastmilk using this suction pump the first few months. I was able to begin my milk stash without using my big electric pump because of it. Seriously such a lifesaver! I also preferred this brand to others because of the stopper and lid. Using the pink stopper saved me from spilling so much milk!
Solly Wrap – learning how to nurse while having the baby wrapped saved so much time. Living 30 minuets from the grocery store, I would always have to find time to stop and nurse while running grocery errands and with a 3 year old running around with me it was exponentially more difficult. So, I started nursing WHILE shopping. With baby wrapped tightly in Solly no one could tell and I was able to proceed with my routine.
Lactation Lab Milk Testing Kit – If you followed along with me on Instagram last fall you know that I was told by our pediatrician that my breastmilk did not have enough calories to sustain my son. I refused to believe that and decided to search for answers. That’s when I found Lactation Lab, a breastmilk testing company, the kits can test for anything ranging from the caloric content to mercury levels of your breastmilk. The breastmilk test gave me so much peace of mind/ You can read more about my experience here.
Button-down Shirts – my wardrobe for the last year consisted of everything button-down. It truly made nursing so much easier on everyone all around.
