The Perfect Twist on a Classic

I love finding new twists on classic recipes, and these Peach Cobbler Cinnamon Rolls are a delicious example. Imagine the warm, gooey goodness of a cinnamon roll infused with the sweet and tangy flavors of a peach cobbler. It’s a match made in dessert heaven. This recipe is a twist on my classic cinnamon roll recipe and is similar to the apple cider cinnamon rolls from last fall.

Making Your Own Peach Filling

While you can certainly take a shortcut and use store-bought peach pie filling, there’s something special about making your own peach filling from scratch. The recipe provided allows you to recreate that homemade taste and texture, adding an extra layer of freshness to your cinnamon rolls.

The Streusel Topping

To add a little extra cobbler feel, these cinnamon rolls are topped with a simple streusel. While you absolutely can leave it off. The little extra texture that the butter, sugar, and flour mixture gives the rolls really makes it reminiscent of a peach cobbler.

The Decadent Frosting

What’s a cinnamon roll without a delectable frosting? In this recipe, we take the frosting to a whole new level by incorporating brown butter and cream cheese. The nutty, caramelized flavor of the brown butter pairs perfectly with the tanginess of the cream cheese, creating a rich and creamy frosting that will make your taste buds dance with joy.

Ingredients

Cinnamon Roll Dough

  • 1/4 cup milk warmed
  • 2 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk

Peach Cobbler Filling

  • 4 peaches sliced (about 3 cups)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar divided
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter melted

Brown Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

Cinnamon Roll Dough

  • Combine 1/4 cup warmed milk with yeast and sugar. Set aside until foamy.
  • In a large bowl (I use my stand mixer) combine remaining ingredients, except remaining milk.
  • Add in milk and yeast mixture and 1/2 cup milk. Mix together, adding in remaining milk as needed. You want the dough to just start to pull away from the bowl.
  • Knead mixture for 5-8 minutes. Shape into a ball, place back into bowl, cover, and let rise for an hour, until doubled.

Peach Cobbler Filling

  • While the dough is rising add sliced peaches, salt, lemon juice, 1 tsp cinnamon, vanilla extract and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a skillet. Cook over medium low heat until peaches are tender.
  • In a small bowl combine melted butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Assemble the Rolls

  • After the dough has doubled, place onto counter and roll into a rectangle approximately 20 x 15 inches.
  • Spread the melted butter mixture on the dough and top with cooked peaches.
  • Roll dough into a log shape, and cut into 12 rolls approximately 1.5 inches wide. (this step will be messy, but it is totally worth it!)
  • Place on a baking sheet, cover and allow to rise for another hour.
  • Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.

Browned Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

  • While the rolls bake make the frosting. In a small saucepan over medium heat melt the butter. Let it simmer until it is foamy, stir and let simmer until you can start to see brown specks. This will take about 5-10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl combine cream cheese, powdered sugar and browned butter. Whisk until combined adding in heavy cream to get a smooth pourable consistency.
  • Remove rolls from the oven, spread frosting over the top and enjoy!

#ad | This pull apart pesto bread has never been easier to make using the @zwilling_usa XTEND Cordless System. The dough hooks on the hand mixer are amazing for small-scale bread recipes. It does all the kneading without having to dirty my hands or a large stand mixer. Plus, I can then easily swap the battery into the hand blender or the vacuum to use in other parts of the recipe, and move around the kitchen with ease.

INGREDIENTS
Pesto
1 cup fresh basil leaves
2 tbsp pine nuts
1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
3 small cloves garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Bread
2 1/4 tsp yeast
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter, melted
1 egg
3 cups flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp italian seasoning
1 cup milk, warmed
1 cup shredded mozzarella

INSTRUCTIONS
Make the Pesto
In the mini chopper attachment of the Zwilling XTEND Hand Blender pulse all pesto ingredients until everything is blended together and relatively smooth. Add a drizzle more olive oil to thin out, if desired. Taste and add pepper (and/or more salt) if desired. Set aside for later.

Make the Bread
In a large bowl combine warmed milk with yeast and sugar. Set aside until foamy. If your yeast does not foam up, do not proceed to the next step. This means your yeast is not active.
Once the yeast mixture is foamy add melted butter, egg, salt, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and 2.5 cups of flour. Mix to combine with the Zwilling XTEND Cordless Hand Mixer with the dough hooks, adding in additional flour until the mixture pulls away from the bowl.
Knead mixture for 7-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth. Place back into bowl, cover, and let rise for an hour, until doubled.
Place dough onto counter and divide into 8 sections. Flatten each section into a circular shape and spread with pesto and shredded cheese then fold in half. Place seam side down into a greased loaf pan and repeat with remaining sections. Allow to rise for an additional 30-60 minutes.
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. Top with more butter if desired.
