This Eggnog Americano is a quick and easy holiday coffee made with espresso, eggnog, water, and caramel. A cozy coffee shop–style drink you can make hot or iced at home in minutes.

If you love the bold flavor of an Americano but crave something a little more festive during the holidays, this Eggnog Americano is the perfect seasonal upgrade. It combines rich espresso, hot or iced water, creamy eggnog, and a touch of caramel for a smooth, lightly sweet coffee that feels straight out of a coffee shop.

This recipe is quick, simple, and perfect for mornings when you want something cozy but not overly sweet. The eggnog adds just enough richness while still letting the espresso shine, making this drink ideal for anyone who enjoys classic coffee flavors with a holiday twist.

Whether you prefer your Americano hot and comforting or iced and refreshing, this eggnog version comes together in minutes and is easy to customize to your taste.

Why You’ll Love This Eggnog Americano

  • Made with just a few simple ingredients
  • Ready in under 5 minutes
  • Can be enjoyed hot or iced
  • Perfect balance of bold coffee and creamy holiday flavor
  • Easily customizable with caramel or homemade eggnog caramel

Ingredients and Why They Work

  • Espresso – The strong coffee base that gives an Americano its signature flavor. Freshly pulled shots give the best taste.
  • Water – Dilutes the espresso without overpowering it, keeping the drink smooth and balanced.
  • Eggnog – Adds creaminess and classic holiday spice without the need for additional syrups. Full-fat eggnog works best.
  • Caramel or Eggnog Caramel – Brings a touch of sweetness and depth. Homemade eggnog caramel is especially delicious here, but store-bought caramel works just as well.

How to Make an Eggnog Americano

Start by adding caramel to a small cup. Brew the espresso directly over the caramel and stir until fully combined.

Iced Eggnog Americano

Fill a glass with ice. Pour the espresso and caramel mixture over the ice, then top with cold water and eggnog. Stir gently and enjoy.

Hot Eggnog Americano

Heat the water to your desired temperature. Add the espresso and caramel mixture to a mug, then pour in hot water and eggnog. Stir and serve warm.

Tips for the Best Eggnog Americano

  • Use freshly brewed espresso for the smoothest flavor
  • Adjust the amount of eggnog based on how creamy you like your coffee
  • For a dairy-free option, use plant-based eggnog
  • Add a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon on top for extra holiday flavor

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this without caramel?
Yes. The drink is still delicious with just espresso, water, and eggnog. The caramel simply adds an extra layer of sweetness.

Can I use brewed coffee instead of espresso?
You can, but it will no longer be an Americano. For the best flavor and balance, espresso is recommended.

Is this drink very sweet?
No. It’s lightly sweet and coffee-forward. You can easily add more caramel if you prefer a sweeter drink.

Can I make this dairy-free?
Absolutely. Use dairy-free eggnog and skip the caramel or use a plant-based version.

A Cozy Holiday Coffee at Home

This Eggnog Americano is the perfect way to bring holiday flavor into your daily coffee routine without a long ingredient list or complicated steps. It’s warm, creamy, and just festive enough to feel special, whether you’re sipping it on a quiet morning or serving it as a seasonal treat.

Tomato season is officially underway 🍅🌱

I finally got all of my tomato plants in the ground and filled the beds in with some of my favorite companion plants too! Not only do they help maximize space, but they also help attract pollinators, improve soil health, and keep pests away naturally.

This year I’m planting:
✨ Basil – helps improve flavor + keeps pests away
✨ Marigolds – a garden must for pest control
✨ Onions – great companions for tomatoes
✨ Zinnias - not only are they pretty to look at, but they are great for attracting pollinators

One of my favorite gardening tips is to never leave bare soil if you can help it. Filling in around your tomatoes makes the garden more productive AND prettier.

Also, something I didn’t talk about is mulching my plants. I use grass clippings BEFORE my husband has done any kind of spraying on the lawn. This helps with moisture retention and controlling weeds!

Now we wait for those summer tomato sandwiches 🍅

Juicy, smoky, loaded with all the good stuff… aka the kind of burger that disappears the second it hits the table.

Save this for your next summertime cookout + drop “BURGER” 🍔 if you can’t wait to make these!
