This French Toast Americano with Maple Cold Foam is a cozy coffee made with espresso, maple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon. A lightly sweet, coffee-forward drink inspired by classic French toast flavors.

If you love the cozy flavors of French toast but prefer a coffee that’s not overly sweet, this French Toast Americano with Maple Cold Foam is about to become your new favorite morning drink. It combines bold espresso and water with warm maple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon, then finishes with a fluffy maple cold foam for a coffee that tastes indulgent without feeling heavy.

This drink is inspired by classic diner-style French toast, but reimagined as a coffee shop–style Americano you can make at home in just minutes. It’s lightly sweet, deeply aromatic, and perfect for slow mornings, brunch at home, or anytime you want something comforting but still coffee-forward.

Why You’ll Love This French Toast Americano

  • Ready in just 5 minutes
  • Coffee-forward with subtle sweetness
  • Inspired by classic French toast flavors
  • Can be made iced or adapted for a hot version
  • Finished with creamy maple cold foam

Ingredients and Why They Work

French Toast Americano

  • Espresso – The strong, rich base that keeps this drink balanced and not overly sweet.
  • Maple Syrup and Brown Sugar – Adds natural sweetness and that signature French toast flavor. Use pure maple syrup for best results.
  • Vanilla Bean Paste or Vanilla Extract – Brings warmth and bakery-style depth to the drink.
  • Water – Dilutes the espresso just enough to create a smooth Americano-style coffee.
  • Cinnamon – Ties everything together and enhances the French toast-inspired flavor profile.

Maple Cold Foam

  • Half and Half – Creates a rich, creamy foam that floats beautifully on top of the coffee.
  • Maple Syrup – Sweetens the cold foam and reinforces the maple flavor throughout the drink.

How to Make a French Toast Americano with Maple Cold Foam

Make the Maple Cold Foam

In a small cup, combine half and half and maple syrup. Whisk or froth until thickened and fluffy. Set aside.

Make the French Toast Americano

In a small cup, add maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla bean paste, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Brew the espresso directly over the mixture and stir until fully combined.

Fill a large glass with ice, then add water followed by the espresso mixture. Top with maple cold foam and enjoy immediately.

Tips for the Best Flavor

  • Use pure maple syrup for the most authentic French toast taste
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup
  • Froth the cold foam just until thick, not stiff, for the best texture
  • Add an extra sprinkle of cinnamon on top for a cozy finish

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this drink hot instead of iced?
Yes. Skip the ice, add hot water to the espresso mixture, and spoon the maple cold foam on top.

Is this drink very sweet?
No. It’s lightly sweet and coffee-forward. You can easily adjust the maple syrup to suit your taste.

Can I use milk instead of half and half for the cold foam?
Yes, though the foam will be lighter. Whole milk or barista-style dairy alternatives work well.

What’s the difference between this and a latte?
An Americano uses water instead of milk as the base, making it lighter while still rich and flavorful.

A Cozy Breakfast-Inspired Coffee at Home

One of my favorite things about making things homemade is getting to create something you wish existed in the world.

I wanted the nostalgic crunch of those strawberry cheesecake ice cream bars… but with raspberry and an actual cheesecake twist. So naturally I had to make it happen.

And honestly? This might be one of those recipes that makes you stop after the first bite and think, where has this been my whole life?

Sweet, creamy, crunchy, raspberry perfection.

Would you try raspberry over strawberry? 👇

Episode 9 of the garden series and the garden is finally starting to fill in 🌱✨

This week I planted:🌶️ Peppers with onions, cilantro and marigolds🫘 Beans alongside potatoes and marigolds🥒 Cucumbers with dill, carrots, and radishes🌸 PLUS all the flowers — zinnias, dahlias, snapdragons, strawflower, celosia, and feverfew

I love companion planting because every plant has a purpose. Some help attract pollinators, some deter pests, and some simply help maximize space in the garden beds. And honestly… mixing veggies and flowers together just makes the garden feel magical. 🌼🐝

The vision is finally starting to come together and I cannot wait to see everything explode with growth over the next few weeks.

Which plant are you most excited to watch grow this season? 👇

Tomato season is officially underway 🍅🌱

I finally got all of my tomato plants in the ground and filled the beds in with some of my favorite companion plants too! Not only do they help maximize space, but they also help attract pollinators, improve soil health, and keep pests away naturally.

This year I’m planting:
✨ Basil – helps improve flavor + keeps pests away
✨ Marigolds – a garden must for pest control
✨ Onions – great companions for tomatoes
✨ Zinnias - not only are they pretty to look at, but they are great for attracting pollinators

One of my favorite gardening tips is to never leave bare soil if you can help it. Filling in around your tomatoes makes the garden more productive AND prettier.

Also, something I didn’t talk about is mulching my plants. I use grass clippings BEFORE my husband has done any kind of spraying on the lawn. This helps with moisture retention and controlling weeds!

Now we wait for those summer tomato sandwiches 🍅

#ad | These Cowboy Burgers are a MUST this grilling season, and the ground beef I grabbed from my local @KrogerCo Family of Stores made them perfect for feeding a crowd.

Juicy, smoky, loaded with all the good stuff… aka the kind of burger that disappears the second it hits the table.

Save this for your next summertime cookout + drop “BURGER” 🍔 if you can’t wait to make these!
