What’s in my Hospital Bag | Minimal-ish Edition

May 16, 2021 · In: Mom Life

FacebookTweetPin

I have been looking at blog posts about what people pack in their hospital bags for a few months now, and honestly the amount of things people packed was overwhelming to me. With this being my second child I know that the hospital provides so many items while you are there. I also did not want to roll up to the hospital toting a giant suitcase (nothing wrong with that, just not my preference).

So here are the items that I felt I really needed/wanted to bring for myself. I still gave myself options for while in the hospital for a few items, because honestly you never know how you are going to feel postpartum. I packed leggings/tank and a t-shirt dress so that I could decide which felt better to me. I also packed a night gown and sweatpants, again because I might want pants and I might want a night gown.

  • weekender bag
  • button down nightgown
  • sweatpants/comfy shirt
  • 2 nursing bras
  • 1 sports bra (if I want to labor in the tub)
  • legging/cardigan/tank (for going home)
  • t-shirt dress (for going home)
  • airpods
  • 2 pairs socks
  • slide on shoes
  • flip flops (for showering)
  • makeup case (for all my toiletries)
  • toiletries (including new toothbrushes, makeup, brush, etc)
  • makeup
  • hairband and hairties
  • matching robe/outfit for mommy and baby
  • 2 different sizes of going home outfits for baby
  • vava light for at night
  • long charging cord

I hope that this was helpful to you! While this wasn’t completely minimalist, I felt that it was a lot less stuff than I have seen on a lot of checklists out there! If I get to the hospital and really wish I had packed something additional I will make sure to come back and update this post as well!

Comment HERBS for all the planter.

My @greenstalkgarden herb garden might be my favorite thing in the garden right now.

There’s something so special about stepping outside and grabbing fresh herbs for dinner. Basil, dill, rosemary, mint, all the herbs my heart desires.

Comment GRILL for both the recipes!

Grill girl summer is officially underway 🔥☀️

Turns out grilling is a whole lot less intimidating when you realize it’s basically just an outdoor oven with better flavor. Thanks @traegergrills.

Tri-tip for dinner, mixed berry cobbler for dessert, and not heating up the kitchen in the process? That feels like a win to me.

Also, respectfully, we are no longer leaving the grilling to the boys this summer.

This one is for those who don’t really like cake.

Homemade fresh mint chip ice cream, a fudgy cookie layer, and cookies & cream ice cream all stacked into one very perfect ice cream cake.

One of my favorite things about making desserts from scratch is getting to create flavor combinations you can’t always find at the store.

And honestly, that’s the fun of homemade, making exactly what you wish existed.

Save this for your next baking day, because narrowing it down to just one is not happening.
