Make bakery-style Apple Fritter Pancakes at home! Soft, fluffy pancakes swirled with cinnamon sugar and topped with a sweet vanilla glaze. The perfect cozy fall breakfast.

apple fritter pancakes

If you love warm, cozy breakfasts that taste like fall, these Apple Fritter Pancakes are your new weekend favorite! They’re soft, fluffy, and swirled with buttery cinnamon sugar, just like a bakery-style apple fritter, but easier to make at home. Topped with a simple vanilla glaze instead of syrup, these pancakes bring all the flavors of your favorite donut straight to your breakfast table.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Bakery-style flavor at home: Each pancake is packed with juicy apples, warm cinnamon, and a rich brown sugar swirl.
  • Perfect for fall mornings: These pancakes taste like apple fritters fresh from the fryer, but without the mess.
  • Kid-approved comfort food: Sweet, soft, and topped with glaze, this is a family favorite every time.

Ingredients

For the Pancakes

  • All-purpose flour: The base of the pancake, giving it structure and a tender crumb. You can substitute with a 1:1 gluten-free baking blend if needed.
  • Granulated sugar: Adds sweetness to the batter and helps the pancakes brown beautifully. Coconut sugar or maple sugar can be used for a more natural option.
  • Baking powder and baking soda: These two leavening agents create that perfect fluffy lift.
  • Salt: Just a pinch enhances all the other flavors.
  • Cinnamon: Brings that warm, cozy spice you expect from apple fritters. You could also add a dash of nutmeg or allspice for depth.
  • Milk: Adds moisture and richness. Any dairy or non-dairy milk works well, such as oat, almond, or whole milk.
  • Vanilla extract: A splash of vanilla brings sweetness and warmth. Vanilla bean paste or maple extract are both great alternatives.
  • Applesauce: Helps keep the pancakes soft and moist while adding extra apple flavor. Mashed banana or pumpkin puree would work in a pinch.
  • Diced apple: Fresh apple bits give each bite a burst of sweetness and texture. Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith are all great choices.

For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl

  • Butter: Softened butter helps create that rich, gooey swirl inside each pancake. You can use plant-based butter for a dairy-free version.
  • Brown sugar: Adds caramel-like sweetness that pairs perfectly with cinnamon. Coconut sugar or maple sugar can also work.
  • Cinnamon: The star of the swirl, bringing warmth and spice.

For the Glaze

  • Milk: Thins the glaze to a pourable consistency. You can use any milk or even heavy cream for a richer texture.
  • Powdered sugar: The base for the smooth, sweet glaze.
  • Vanilla extract: Enhances flavor and complements the apples. Almond extract adds a fun twist.

How to Make Apple Fritter Pances

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. Add in milk, vanilla extract, and applesauce. Stir until just combined, and do not overmix.
  3. Fold in the diced apple.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon sugar swirl ingredients until smooth. Add to a piping bag (or zip-top bag) and snip off the tip.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of butter.
  6. Scoop ¼–⅓ cup of pancake batter onto the skillet, then pipe a swirl of the cinnamon mixture from the center outward.
  7. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, flipping once golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together glaze ingredients.
  9. Drizzle glaze over warm pancakes and serve immediately.

Tips for Perfect Apple Fritter Pancakes

  • Use crisp apples like Cosmic Smith for a nice balance of sweetness and tang.
  • Let your batter rest for 5 minutes before cooking for extra-fluffy pancakes.
  • Warm the glaze slightly before drizzling for that glossy bakery-style finish.

How to Serve Apple Fritter Pancakes

These pancakes are delicious on their own, but you can also serve them with:

  • A sprinkle of powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
  • A dollop of whipped cream.
  • Warm caramel sauce for an indulgent twist.

20 minute homemade ice cream?! This is going to be the best summer ever!

Comment CHEESECAKE for all the recipe details.

One of my favorite things about making things homemade is getting to create something you wish existed in the world.

I wanted the nostalgic crunch of those strawberry cheesecake ice cream bars… but with raspberry and an actual cheesecake twist. So naturally I had to make it happen.

And honestly? This might be one of those recipes that makes you stop after the first bite and think, where has this been my whole life?

Sweet, creamy, crunchy, raspberry perfection.

Would you try raspberry over strawberry? 👇

Episode 9 of the garden series and the garden is finally starting to fill in 🌱✨

This week I planted:🌶️ Peppers with onions, cilantro and marigolds🫘 Beans alongside potatoes and marigolds🥒 Cucumbers with dill, carrots, and radishes🌸 PLUS all the flowers — zinnias, dahlias, snapdragons, strawflower, celosia, and feverfew

I love companion planting because every plant has a purpose. Some help attract pollinators, some deter pests, and some simply help maximize space in the garden beds. And honestly… mixing veggies and flowers together just makes the garden feel magical. 🌼🐝

The vision is finally starting to come together and I cannot wait to see everything explode with growth over the next few weeks.

Which plant are you most excited to watch grow this season? 👇

Tomato season is officially underway 🍅🌱

I finally got all of my tomato plants in the ground and filled the beds in with some of my favorite companion plants too! Not only do they help maximize space, but they also help attract pollinators, improve soil health, and keep pests away naturally.

This year I’m planting:
✨ Basil – helps improve flavor + keeps pests away
✨ Marigolds – a garden must for pest control
✨ Onions – great companions for tomatoes
✨ Zinnias - not only are they pretty to look at, but they are great for attracting pollinators

One of my favorite gardening tips is to never leave bare soil if you can help it. Filling in around your tomatoes makes the garden more productive AND prettier.

Also, something I didn’t talk about is mulching my plants. I use grass clippings BEFORE my husband has done any kind of spraying on the lawn. This helps with moisture retention and controlling weeds!

Now we wait for those summer tomato sandwiches 🍅

#ad | These Cowboy Burgers are a MUST this grilling season, and the ground beef I grabbed from my local @KrogerCo Family of Stores made them perfect for feeding a crowd.

Juicy, smoky, loaded with all the good stuff… aka the kind of burger that disappears the second it hits the table.

Save this for your next summertime cookout + drop “BURGER” 🍔 if you can’t wait to make these!
