Make the best Mixed Berry Cobbler on the Traeger with frozen berries and a buttery cobbler topping. This easy smoked dessert recipe is perfect for summer cookouts and backyard BBQs.

If you’re looking for an easy summer dessert that tastes like it came straight from a cozy farmhouse kitchen, this Mixed Berry Cobbler on the Traeger is it. Made with juicy mixed berries and a buttery cobbler topping, this simple pellet grill dessert is smoky, sweet, and incredibly easy to make.

The Traeger adds a subtle wood-fired flavor that takes classic berry cobbler to the next level. Whether you’re making this for a backyard BBQ, camping trip, Fourth of July party, or weeknight dessert, this smoked berry cobbler is always a crowd favorite.

The best part? You only need a handful of pantry staples and frozen berries to make it happen.

Why You’ll Love This Traeger Mixed Berry Cobbler

  • Easy beginner-friendly Traeger dessert
  • Uses frozen mixed berries for convenience
  • Buttery cobbler topping with crisp golden edges
  • Delicious smoky flavor from the pellet grill
  • Perfect for summer cookouts and holidays
  • Can also be baked in the oven

What Does Smoking Cobbler Do?

Baking cobbler on a pellet grill gives the dessert a light smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with sweet berries. The smoke adds depth without overpowering the fruit, making it taste extra cozy and homemade.

Fruit desserts like cobbler, crisp, and pie are surprisingly amazing on the smoker because the wood-fired heat caramelizes the berries while keeping the filling juicy and bubbly.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Frozen Mixed Berries – A blend of berries creates the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors while making the filling juicy and flavorful. Frozen berries work especially well because they release plenty of juice as they cook.
Substitute: Fresh berries can be used instead.
  • Granulated Sugar – Sweetens the berry filling and helps create that classic syrupy cobbler texture.
Substitute: Cane sugar or coconut sugar.
  • Cornstarch – Thickens the berry juices so the filling becomes rich and jammy instead of watery.
    Substitute: Arrowroot powder or flour.
  • All Purpose Flour – Gives the cobbler topping structure while baking up soft with crisp golden edges.
    Substitute: 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • Baking Powder – Helps the cobbler topping rise and become fluffy.
  • Milk – Adds moisture to the batter and creates a tender cobbler topping.
Substitute: Buttermilk, almond milk, or oat milk.
  • Butter – Adds rich flavor and helps create a buttery crust with crispy edges.
Substitute: Dairy-free butter or salted butter.
  • Brown Sugar – Sprinkled on top for caramelization and a warm molasses flavor.
Substitute: Turbinado sugar or coconut sugar.

Best Berries for Cobbler

This recipe uses frozen mixed berries which typically include:

  • Blueberries
  • Blackberries
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberries

You can also customize the blend depending on what you have on hand. Blackberries and raspberries give the cobbler a richer flavor, while strawberries add sweetness.

How to Make Mixed Berry Cobbler on the Traeger

Step 1: Preheat the Pellet Grill

Preheat your Traeger or pellet grill to 350°F.

Step 2: Make the Berry Filling

In a deep 12-inch pie pan, combine the frozen mixed berries, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and cornstarch. Stir until the berries are coated.

Step 3: Make the Cobbler Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, melted butter, and milk until combined.

Step 4: Assemble the Cobbler

Scoop the batter over the berry mixture and gently spread it across the top. Do not stir.

Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the batter.

Step 5: Smoke the Cobbler

Bake on the Traeger for 35–40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the berries are bubbling around the edges.

Tips for the Best Smoked Berry Cobbler

  • Use a deep pie dish to prevent bubbling over
  • Don’t thaw the berries first
  • Let the cobbler rest for 10 minutes before serving
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
  • Use pecan or hickory pellets for extra flavor

Can I Bake This in the Oven?

Yes! If you don’t have a pellet grill, you can bake this cobbler in the oven at 350°F for the same amount of time.

What to Serve with Berry Cobbler

This Traeger berry cobbler is delicious served with:

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Homemade whipped cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Fresh mint
  • Extra berries on top

Storage Tips

Store leftover cobbler covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat individual servings in the microwave or warm the entire dish in the oven.

This one is for those who don’t really like cake.

Homemade fresh mint chip ice cream, a fudgy cookie layer, and cookies & cream ice cream all stacked into one very perfect ice cream cake.

One of my favorite things about making desserts from scratch is getting to create flavor combinations you can’t always find at the store.

And honestly, that’s the fun of homemade, making exactly what you wish existed.

One of my favorite things about making things homemade is getting to create something you wish existed in the world.

I wanted the nostalgic crunch of those strawberry cheesecake ice cream bars… but with raspberry and an actual cheesecake twist. So naturally I had to make it happen.

And honestly? This might be one of those recipes that makes you stop after the first bite and think, where has this been my whole life?

Sweet, creamy, crunchy, raspberry perfection.

Would you try raspberry over strawberry? 👇

Episode 9 of the garden series and the garden is finally starting to fill in 🌱✨

This week I planted:🌶️ Peppers with onions, cilantro and marigolds🫘 Beans alongside potatoes and marigolds🥒 Cucumbers with dill, carrots, and radishes🌸 PLUS all the flowers — zinnias, dahlias, snapdragons, strawflower, celosia, and feverfew

I love companion planting because every plant has a purpose. Some help attract pollinators, some deter pests, and some simply help maximize space in the garden beds. And honestly… mixing veggies and flowers together just makes the garden feel magical. 🌼🐝

The vision is finally starting to come together and I cannot wait to see everything explode with growth over the next few weeks.

Which plant are you most excited to watch grow this season? 👇
